Hey fellow read-a-thon-ers . . . we’re almost there! And after all this time sitting and reading, we need to get the blood flow going a bit.
So. We need you to participate in this simple, yet necessary mini-challenge:
- Stand up right this minute.
- Set your mp3 player/radio/iTunes playlist to play three dance-worthy songs back-to-back.
- Dance like a maniac.
We need you to shake your moneymaker. We need you to shake what yo’ mama gave ya. We need you to shake it like a Polaroid picture. And then we need you to come back and tell us the three songs that you chose. What are those songs that make you crazy when they come on, and you just can’t sit still?
(And if you wake the neighbors, well . . . you can just blame it on a couple of fancy ladies.)
A winner will be randomly chosen from the comments to receive a hand-knitted bookmark! Giveaway will stay open until the end of the read-a-thon (8 a.m. EST). Residents of U.S. and Canada only.
****Update: The winner of the Get Up Offa That Thang mini-challenge is Bonnie @ bonniesbooks.blogspot.com. Congratulations, you really know how to get down! We’ll email you shortly and get you your prize.****

HA! I’m not from the Us or Canada, therefore I’m not eligible and don’t have to actually do the dancing. What a horrible thought, me dancing. But I’ll share three songs that would probably get me dancing.
1. ABBA – Dancing Queen. What? It don’t matter I’m a guy, there’s nobody in the room. And I’ve been reading for 21 or 22 hours.
2. Lady Antebellum – Lookin’ For A Good Time. This song is also great to blast in the car during summer.
3. LeAnn Rimes – Nothin’ Better To Do. For me, a song can’t get more country than this.
Cheers! Happy reading!
The three songs I choose are (1) Last Friday Night by Katy Perry, (2) Rock N Roll by Eric Hutchinson, and (3) Girls Lie Too by Terri Clark. Kind of bi-polar options, but I like variety!!!
oooooh. I am sort of desperately in love with Eric Hutchinson. yay!
It was more imitation-dancing while playing fetch with my cats, but the music was fun. The songs I used:
1. We Are Young, We Are Strong – Mika
2. Bad Reputation – The Hit Girls
3. Conga – Gloria Estefan
I found YouTube versions of (1) Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley (appropriate at this hour of the readathon), (2) Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry, and (3) Be-Bop-A-Lula by John Lennon. By the way, the cat thinks I’ve gone crazy! My list is at Hour 22 on my blog, here:

Oooooh, dancin’ to the oldies! We likey.
I myself am an oldie, so these are songs from “my” time. Dropped by to tell you the hand-knitted bookmark arrived, and I wrote about it (and thanked you) on my blog: http://bonniesbooks.blogspot.com/2011/10/bookmark-and-bag.html
It’s beautiful and looks like it took a ton of work to make. Thank you so much.
We had trouble finding only three songs … you don’t want to miss our blog though …
Check out the evolution of dance videos … these are moves will get you off of your thang for sure!
And we posted the dance scene from Napoleon Dynamite … Love it!
Hahaha, seen that one . . . too funny.
The three songs I chose are 1. Born This Way by Lady Gaga. 2. On The Floor by Jennifer Lopez. 3. Come Go With Me by Expose. I love dancing around the floor.
[...] Get Up Offa That Thang (The permalink for this challenge has runaway from home, hopefully temporarily?) Reading Zombies [...]
Whew, I’m refreshed now…thanks!
My songs:
Kesha “Tik Tok”
LMFAO “Party Rock Anthem”
Scissor Sisters “I Don’t Feel Like Dancing”
I love the name of that last song because you can’t hear it without feeling like dancing! What a paradox.
1. Tai Cruz’s Dynamite
2. Pink’s Get the Party Started
3. Justin’ Timberlake’s Sexy Back
I’m still tired though. LOL
Is that who sings Dynamite?? Look at that, I learned something.
Only two more hours, we can do it!
All excellent for that kind of jumpy-flaily dancing that’s so invigorating:
“Your English is Good” by Tokyo Police Club, “Cosmopolitan” by Nine Black Alps, and “Stars” by Switchfoot.
Wow, this was just what I needed at this point in the game! It’s 5:00 in the morning here, so I did have to do it pretty quietly, but it was still fun.
1. Lil Mama – Lip Gloss (the beat! It makes me crazy!)
2. Rusted Root – Send Me On My Way (my favourite song ever; coincidentally, also in Matilda, my favourite movie ever)
3. Weird Al – White and Nerdy (throughout my comp sci degree, this was basically my theme song)
Happy read-a-thoning everyone!
Weee! Just what the doctor ordered
I chose “All Things Are Possible” – Hillsongs, “Alle mine veninder” – Sys Bjerre and “Tonight” by NKOTB – going old school there
I’m not from your side of the world but…. I’m listening to Bruce Springsteen right now *and* dancing
Loved the challenge idea though!
Awesome — thanks for dancing along.
How fantastic that the dance party commences with me finishing my book!
My beats:
Walkin’ on Sunshine, Katrina and the Waves
Bad Romance, Lady Gaga (could be any Gaga, really)
Moneygrabber, Fitz & the Tantrums (I’m really enjoying them right now)

I loved this challenge!
My three songs were totally random (I just hit shuffle)
1. Mercenary by Panic at the Disco (off the Arkham City soundtrack)
2. Whadya Want From Me by Adam Lambert
3. Bad Romance covered by Halestorm
Dancing to Lady Gaga is the best so
1. Bad Romance – Lady Gaga
2. Poker Face – Lady Gaga
3. Born This Way – Lady Gaga
just shuffle the Gaga and dance!

YES! Hollaaaaaaa . . .
I loved this challenge!
Judas by Lady Gaga
Fergalicious by Fergie
Forget You by Cee Lo Green
Hahahahaha absolutely ridiculous, but definitely invigorating! Thanks for the pick me up =)
Fun challenge. I ended up nodding off for a bit. Boo. So I didn’t get my shake on, but maybe next time haha.
1. I Don’t Feel Like Dancing by the Scissor Sisters (which despite the title is super dance worthy)
2. Jump in the Line by Harry Belafonte- I always shake, shake, shake my body line when listening to this song!
3. Reading Rainbow Theme Song- yes this is on my iPod, and yes I dance to it, lots of arm swaying and twirling like a little girl to this one!
Yay #3! When I was a little girl, this show used to come on and my mom and I would dance together to the theme song, while I was on the bed. It’s such a lovely memory.
